Native to Utah, I discovered when I was quite young that my soul-home was in this magnificent area of the Oregon Coast. It was not until I had a growing family, though, that I discovered that Brookings was 'The Place.'
One autumn, I organized the pilgrimage that I had always wished to take with my kids, and started at one end of Oregon, in quest of the real-live versions of the calendar pictures of the crashing waves of the Pacific Northwest! We started at the northern Oregon end of highway 101 (the most spectacularly scenic highway in the world) and delightedly explored the nooks, viewpoints, beaches and tide pools till we reached the southern end of our adventure- Brookings.
Our moment of enlightenment upon reaching Brookings was when we saw the breathtaking vista of the Pelican bay and Taco Bell in the same view, and we realized, it was time to go home and load up the u-haul.
So I made the Big Choice to raise my children in the boundless bounty granted those who dare to break ties and come to this remote and magical place.
I take great satisfaction in partnering the idealistic adventurists, who come and discover Brookings, with 'a place to hang their hat'."
